about the artist

Hello, my name is Byron, aka "Killa Kicks!" Welcome to my page! Let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself, then we'll get to the good stuff... Born in Miami Florida, but grew up in Ohio. Currently was just living in Las Vegas, Nevada, but due to Covid-19 I recently moved back to Ohio. My journey actually began in Las Vegas. In February of this year! I was contacted to do a pair of shoes of Target's mascot "Bullseye!" I am an extreme shoe fan, but more than anything I love things that are unique and one of a kind! I have been drawing since I was able to hold a crayon in my hand and painting since elementary school. I remember the first painting I did, it was in an after school program and I painted a giant green frog! "Ribbit!" Ever since then, I fell in love with art! I believe art is a unique but wonderful talent to have. Artistic skill runs in my family. My uncle who lived in Miami, Florida was a huge inspiration to me! He painted anything from mats for boxing rings, to lettering on helicopters for movie props. I have been a shoe fanatic (Sneaker Head), my favorite shoes are Fila's and the classic Reebok's, especially the pumps! True story, my cousin had a pair of black high top Reebok pumps. She left them at our apartment one day, so the next morning I ended up rocking them to school. They were a little large on me, but when I pumped up the little basketball they grew tighter and fit like a glove! Fast forward to about a year ago and some change I got some inspiration from my brother in-law. Dustin Blackburn. The owner of Devious Dips Graphics, be sure to go follow his page! He is well known for his "Hydro dipping." He introduced me to a video about customizing shoes, and I became hooked. I then took a huge leap of faith, and took my hustle to the West Coast. Las Vegas to be exact. That is then where I established my hustle and grind for shoe customization! Thanks to Facebook and its sponsorship, I landed a little job that opened the doors for me. I then ended up on Las Vegas Fox 5 News for doing a gift for a little girl that loved shopping at the retail store Target! I made her the cutest shoes of the stores mascot, "Bullseye!" The shoes were hand painted with some glitter added, she fell in love with them instantly! I can honestly say that was when I decided to take this hustle/hobby and turn it into a business, named it "Killa Kicks!" Back then I would tell random people with nice shoes, "Those are some Killer Kicks!" So the name stuck, just added a little slang to it of course. March of this year Covid changed everything. I was forced to move back from Las Vegas, Nevada to a little farmer town, "Willard, Ohio." This was a huge drastic change for me! My job closed down permanently which left me in limbo. Family convinced to move back, and give it a shot here in Willard, Ohio. I can say I have had a great outcome since I have been back! Now, I am not only doing shoes, but I am also doing shirts, face masks, water bottles, and hats! Now to the good stuff... When I am doing these shoes I am using top of the line product! The paint that I use does not chip, crack, or peel. I can use it on leather, canvas, cotton, fabric, and patent leather I take my time and pay attention to the small details. I will work on any shoes from newborn all the way to size 13, which is the biggest I have done so far. Prices vary from how detailed the design is to how big the shoes size is. I can do just paint, to glitter, to adding gems to the shoe! I tell my clients when they ask what all can be done? My response "The Sky Is The Limit!!"
